Childhood obesity is one of the most pressing and chronic health issues facing children today. To tackle this locally, UH Mānoa's John A. Burns School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics and the Hawaiʻi Initiative for Childhood Obesity Research and Education (HICORE), with support from several local healthcare organizations, have launched a new community campaign to promote healthy living.

The campaign "Hawaiʻi 5-2-1-0 Let's Go!" recommends:

  • 5 or more fruits or vegetables a day
  • 2 hours or less of screen time a day
  • 1 hour or more of physical activity per day
  • 0 sugary drinks

Hawaiʻi 5-2-1-0 enjoyed their public launch at JABSOM. Speakers thanked partners for their support, and described the campaign and its importance to an enthusiastic audience.
