Paul G. Allen Frontiers Group - 2022 Allen Distinguished Investigators

Details

Letters of Intent (LOIs) are invited for the 2022 Allen Distinguished Investigator program, which will provide up to eight awards in support of technology development in Protein Lifespan and Nutrient Sensing.

Protein Lifespan: Up to 4 awards of up to $1,250,000 over 3 years will be awarded along two tracks:

1. Technology development—Proposals to develop new technology and/or refine existing hardware, software, tools, and/or models. Projects may focus on technology for a variety of purposes relating to how proteins change or behave across their lifespan.

2. Biological discovery for technological innovation—Proposals to elucidate biological mechanisms or features of protein lifespan that must be understood before technology development can occur. Projects may focus on aspects of protein lifespan biology that could serve as the basis of a new measurement, imaging technology, model, or other tools.

Nutrient Sensing: Up to 4 awards of up to $1,250,000 over 3 years will be awarded in support of the development of technology to sense and/or visualize nutrients at the subcellular level. Projects of interest may include hardware, software, sensor and/or other tool building efforts, or those that adapt existing technology to a new field or use. Technology focusing on in vivo analysis and/or analysis over time is preferred.

Top LOIs would include both a compelling reason and test case for the technology and have the potential to be more broadly impactful. Multidisciplinary teams (e.g., biologists, chemists, engineers, computer scientists, etc.) are particularly welcome.

Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by June 15, 2022.
