Applications are invited in support of research to develop and disseminate sound data that inform best practices, produce better outcomes, and improve quality of life for people living with spinal cord injuries. Psychosocial research explores the interrelation of behavioral, social, and psychological factors that influence participation, health practice, lifestyle, and support systems in community and clinical settings.
A number of research awards will be offered:
PSR Postdoctoral Fellowships: Grants of up to $200,000 over two years will be awarded to early-career researchers interested in specializing in spinal cord injuries. Applicants must have a mentor who is experienced in spinal cord injury-related psychosocial research and have attained a terminal degree within the past five years.
PSR Pilot Grants: Grants of up to $300,000 over two years will be awarded in support of pilot studies designed to test the feasibility of innovative methods, procedures, or data collection with the potential to lead to a larger-scale study.
PSR Studies and Demonstration Projects: Grants of up to $550,000 over three years will be awarded in support of substantive studies that facilitate, expand, or improve practices that impact those living with spinal cord injuries, including studies that fill critical gaps, open new areas of research, or develop or evaluate interventions.
Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by July 12, 2022.
