Grants will be awarded to support novel and promising research dedicated to high-impact clinical, epidemiological, and laboratory research on glaucoma, including protecting and restoring the optic nerve; accurately detecting glaucoma and monitoring its progress; providing better understanding and treatment for congenital/juvenile glaucoma; finding the genes responsible for glaucoma; understanding the intraocular pressure system and developing better treatments; and determining the risk factors for glaucoma damage using systematic outcomes data.
Eligible applicants must possess a graduate degree and not have received a Shaffer Grant within the prior three years.
Preliminary proposals are due by July 15, 2022. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by September 2022.
