$100,000 From Murayamas Funds Wahine Sand Volleyball Team and Student-Athlete Success
HONOLULU – Jared and Donna Murayama have pledged $100,000 to support the Wahine Sand Volleyball team and facilities at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Athletics Department. In recognition of the Murayama’s generosity, the Wahine Sand Volleyball Head Coach's office has been named "Murayama Ohana! Cara, Jaimie, Donna and Jared. Aloha and Go Bows!"
Chans' $250,000 Supports Engineering Transfer Students
HONOLULU – Annie and UH alumnus Fred Chan have pledged $250,000 to assist fulltime undergraduate students transferring from any University of Hawai‘i Community College into the College of Engineering at UH Mānoa. Fred earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from the College of Engineering, and his MS in Information and Computer Sciences from the Colleges of Arts and Sciences and attributes the education he received at UH for much of his success.
Family Business Center of Hawai‘i establishes professorship at the Shidler College of Business
The Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa has received a $1 million commitment from the Family Business Center of Hawai‘i (FBCH) to establish the Family Business Center of Hawai‘i Distinguished Professorship. The Family Business Center of Hawai‘i Distinguished Professor will help expand the College’s ability to recruit and retain faculty of the highest caliber in the area of family business who will serve as the FBCH faculty director, teach courses in family business, and conduct research in family business.
$729,000 for Master's Entry Program in Nursing
Launched in 2008, the MEPN Program is an accelerated entry program leading to a Master’s of Science in Nursing, the only program of its kind in Hawai‘i. It is designed for students who have a baccalaureate or higher degree in a field other than nursing and who have not previously attended a registered nurse educational program.
Honoring First Hemic CEO Robert Dove with Insurance Excellence Scholarship
HONOLULU - Hawaii Employers’ Mutual Insurance Company (HEMIC) is honoring its first CEO Robert L. Dove, Jr. by funding an endowed scholarship with a $230,000 gift. The Robert L. Dove, Jr. Endowed Scholarship for Insurance Excellence, sponsored by HEMIC, will provide four-year renewable scholarships to incoming freshmen who are graduates of a Hawai‘i high school and pursuing a business degree at the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. A preference will be given to students who express an interest in finance with a concentration in insurance and risk management.
