Applications are invited for basic and clinical research in the field of HIV. Areas of research may include but are not listed to: basic, clinical, behavioral, epidemiological, implementation science, and community-based participatory research; management of complications, comorbidities and/or co-infections, e.g., HIV and aging; HIV prevention; and health economics outcomes research.

One award will be granted to an early-career underrepresented minority (URM) investigator who has received their initial faculty appointment and are working to establish an independent vision research program.

Applications are invited for the Dr. David L. Epstein Award which will provide $100,000 to a well-established, senior-level investigator with a documented history of conducting eye and vision research in glaucoma and who has a record of successfully mentoring clinician-scientists to independent academic and research careers and will fund a research project that supports the applicant’s mentee in the applicant’s lab.

Grants will be awarded for proposals that support research beyond current work in bioethics to resolve pressing ethical issues in clinical, biomedical, and public health decision making, policy, and practice and to create a community that enhances future bioethics research by scholars and alumni/ae.

One award of $50,000 will be given to provide early-career research support to junior faculty members of the AAS. Eligible applicants must be full-time faculty who have not yet attained the rank of Associate Professor. Faculty in any surgical specialty or discipline are eligible. Applicants must be active members of the AAS.
