Alumnus Christopher Helm establishes $100,000 endowment for leadership award at Shidler College

Shidler College of Business alumnus Christopher Helm and wife Debra have established a $100,000 endowment through the Helm Family Trust to endow the David Bess Leadership Award. Each year, the award is presented to a promising student leader during the college’s Business Night event.

Hawaiian Electric Funds Electric Vehicle for JABSOM HOME Project

Hawaiian Electric Company and the HEI Charitable Foundation have donated $30,000 to the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa John A. Burns School of Medicine’s Hawai‘i Homeless Outreach & Medical Education Project (HOME) to purchase an electric vehicle. It will be used to transport homeless patients to medical and dental appointments.

JTB Goodwill Foundation President Tsukasa Harufuku and board member Lena Young presented a ceremonial check to University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s School of Travel Industry Management Dean Thomas Bingham and University of Hawai‘i Foundation Senior Director of Development Harriet Cintron, after establishing an endowed scholarship for students pursuing degrees in the field of tourism and hospitality.
