Walmart Foundation supports "Cooking up a Rainbow Food Truck"

The University of Hawai‘i Foundation/Kapi‘olani Community College received a $50,000 Walmart Foundation grant to support Kapi‘olani CC’s “Cooking up a Rainbow Food Truck.” This award is helping to fund the outfitting of a custom food truck that will be used to deliver nutritious, balanced meals to children eligible for free and reduced lunches during summer break. The team using the truck will also provide healthy and affordable cooking lessons and obesity prevention education in rural communities.

Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation Supports Culinary The Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation has donated $1.1 million to support the growing facilities and innovative programs at the new state-of-the-art Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Diamond Head (CIP). This gift will help the university reach its goal of raising $10 million in private donations necessary to secure $20 million in state funds expressly for building future structures at the institute.
